The first game I want to write about is this one that I recently finished: Office Room by Daisuke Suzuki.

I really like this kind of realistic room escape games. The rendering is very nice.
I couldn’t find any walkthrough of this game online (maybe I wasn’t searching in the right way), but I was able to figure it out myself (that feels good) so I’m going to write my own walkthrough. (spoiler below, hit ‘continue reading’ to see the walkthrough)

I will be referring to the following scenes:

1. Pick up the charger block from the white table in the Plant scene.
2. The same white table, pull out the left drawer and pick up a portable battery.
3. In the Desk scene, click the chair, pick up a red handle.
4. Go to the locker scene, click the taller lockers and open the right door. Pick up a screw driver tip from there.
5. Assemble the red handle and the screw driver tip to form a screw driver.
6. Go to the Umbrella scene, click the time clock machine, use the screw driver to unscrew the two screws on the machine. This will reveal a switch.
7. Flip the switch to turn on the machine, you will see a triangle pointing down.
8. The triangle hints you to look at the time cards above from up to down, so it reads ‘left, left, left, right, right, left, right, left, right’. Hit the two buttons on the machine in this order. Then a key will stick out from the machine.
9. Take the key. (on the left to the switch, a bit hard to see)
10. Go to the Locker scene, click the shorter lockers, use the key you just got to open the locker. In the right partition you will see a safe, and in the left partition there are a few books. Click the books, you will open one of them and there’s a key taped inside. Pick up the key.

11. There’s a raining cloud picture on the safe, this hints you to look at the umbrella rack.
12. Go to the Umbrella scene, look at the umbrella rack, then go back to the Lockers scene, go to the safe, press the buttons that matches the umbrella arrangement then hit the raining cloud button to open the safe.
13. Pick up the card reader from the safe.
14. Go to the Plant scene, use the key you just got from a book to unlock the door. Go in and find out it’s a Kitchen.
15. Click the countertop and pick up a handle.
16. Plug in the charger block that you picked up at the beginning of the game to the wall, near the coffee machine. (you will first need to look at the charger block, click on it to flip out the two legs then you will be able to plug it into the wall)
17. Go to the Umbrellas scene, click the closet with time cards inside, put the handle you got from the kitchen onto the closet. Now you can open the closet.
18. Click on the time cards, you will be able to pick one up.
19. Go to the time card machine below, put the time card you just got into the machine. Wait for a sec or two it will punch the card. Look at the card again you will see the card has been punched.
20. Notice that the triangle on the time clock flipped to point upward. This hints you to hit the buttons following the card pattern from below to above. Notice that now you have one card missing! (right, right, left, right, right, left, left, left)

21. After you push the buttons correctly another key will stick out. Take it (to the right of the switch).
22. Go to the Lockers scene, use the key you just got to open the left door of the taller lockers. You will be able to pick up a badge here.
23. Look at the badge you just got, click on it, you will be able to separate out a card.
24. Now look at the time card, you will see holes punched on 5, 10, and 7. Read from left to right this tells you ‘5107’. This is the passcode to open the lock in the Desk scene.
25. Go to the Desk scene, click on the drawers. The very top one is locked. Put in ‘5107’ to unlock.
26. Pick up a USB cord from the drawer.
27. Assemble this cord with the portable battery, and plug this into the charger on the wall in the Kitchen scene.
28. Get the battery back once it’s charged, then plug it into the laptop in the Desk scene. This will turn on the laptop. The screen hints you to use the card reader.
29. Now is the tricky part, I think I spent most time on this… look at the card reader and click on it you will see on the bottom side there are a bunch of lights and buttons you can push. Go to the Desk scene, go to the bottom drawer, you will see folders inside and they are color labelled from left to right ‘blue, blue, yellow, blue, yellow, yellow’. Go to the drawer above, you will see two papers, one talks about screw driver assembly (we’ve done that already), and the other one is a hint for the card reader. Remember the blue and yellow patterns on the sheet, recall that the binder color code is has alternating blue/yellow. Combine these two hints, on the card reader, input the following pattern: ‘blue2, blue1, yellow3, blue1, yellow2, yellow3’.
30. After you put in the color code you will get access to a charger hole on the reader.
31. Go to the Desk scene, unplug the battery from the laptop, and retrieve the USB cord. Plug this cord into the card reader, and plug the card reader into the laptop (through the USB port on the left of the laptop).
32. Now insert the blue card you got off the badge into the card reader. Now it asks you for a three digit password.
33. I was able to get the password because I remember the strange pattern on the book in one of the lockers… Go to the Lockers scene, open the shorter lockers, slide open the left door, and pull out the book (the one you got the key from), look at the cover of the book, you will see yellow rectangles hinting you the three digit passcode is 555.
34. Go back to the Desk scene and input 555 into the laptop, then hit the check mark. It tells you that the card has been modified.
35. Take the card back and go to the Umbrellas scene, swipe the card on the card reader on the wall by the door, and you are out! 😀
